Bleicher/Golightly will present new works from Jessika Cardinahl in an upcoming show called Ascension.
Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, Jessika established herself as a successful film actress and commercial model, though her education was in fine art and graphic design. Jessika creates large mixed media works on canvas and linen. The subject matter is typically landscapes and/or animals created with a vibrant array of colors.
“This artwork is about the journey of experiences, some fleeting, some lasting, some effusive, while other impressions may remain quite vague. It is this experiential journey I wish to unfold for my audience.” — Jessika Cardinahl
What: Ascension by Jessika Cardinahl
When: April 1, 2010 – April 15, 2010
Where: Bleicher/Golightly, 1431 Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90401

Clements Behr’s new show, Black White Everything (and Me), will be at ROJO®artspace Barcelona starting on March 16, 2010.
For the show he will do an “cut during assembly” installation for the Rojo Art Space Barcelona. Using the existing colors of the gallery’s visual appearance — black walls, white light, wooden ground and a red grid — he decided only to work with those colors, wood and anything else he can find during his stay in Barcelona. Not knowing what materials he will find when in Barcelona is part of the appeal and excitement of Behr’s spontaneous, process-orientated installation.
What: Clements Behr, Black White Everything (and Me)
When: March 16, 2020 – April 30, 2010
Where: ROJO®artspace Barcelona, Carrer Girona 61. 08009 Barcelona, Spain

“Light Breakfast” by David Sykes is awesome is so many ways, and I especially love the color palette. Click through to his site to view the high-resolution version.

Lillianna Pereira’s solo show is coming up soon, and she’s uploaded a few sneak peeks onto her Flickrstream. Now this is a show I could get behind!
What: The Record is Far From Complete
When: March 26, 2010 – May 1, 2010
Where: Elephant Room Gallery 704 S Wabash Ave. Chicago IL 60605

The collages of Greg Lamarche are such great retro eye candy. The way he assembles the clippings is just so very perfect.

Cassandra Tondro sent me her work, which is quite beautiful. She combines and applies paint onto canvas in unusual ways, mixing and concocting like a “mad scientist.” She uses repurposed acrylic latex paint, also known as house paint, that she saves from reject shelves before it is sent to landfills.
She also has an Etsy shop and a blog that are worth a look.

John Harrison Berry just graduated from Rhode Island School of Design and lives, works and breathes sculptures. I love the organic, almost alive, feel of his works — from “Hold Me Up” to “Titanic.”
Fantastic execution.

Loving Yu Matsuoka’s colorful mountain drawings — they remind me of what I’ve been working on lately…and you might already know that I have a thing for mountains. Found her thanks to Picdit and LostBirdFound.
