Clements Behr’s new show, Black White Everything (and Me), will be at ROJO®artspace Barcelona starting on March 16, 2010.
For the show he will do an “cut during assembly” installation for the Rojo Art Space Barcelona. Using the existing colors of the gallery’s visual appearance — black walls, white light, wooden ground and a red grid — he decided only to work with those colors, wood and anything else he can find during his stay in Barcelona. Not knowing what materials he will find when in Barcelona is part of the appeal and excitement of Behr’s spontaneous, process-orientated installation.

John Harrison Berry just graduated from Rhode Island School of Design and lives, works and breathes sculptures. I love the organic, almost alive, feel of his works — from “Hold Me Up” to “Titanic.”

Wall Flower No. 1, 2010, 6 ft diameter, cast aluminum with pigment
Norman Mooney will be showing his new Wall Flower sculptures. The yellow sculpture shown above consists of over 500 aluminum castings all projecting outward four feet off the wall. Another larger wall flower in crimson resin having a diameter of 6-7 feet will also be a part of the exhibition. Also included will be the three final windseeds from a group of six are also cast in aluminum, but seem light enough to move in a breeze and have been likened to dandelion seeds.

Barclay Douglas is an illustrator and designer, but his recent work includes a series of sculptural paintings called “Fools Gold.” The 30″x40″ piece has roughly 40 to 60 plastic bags, ripped up, hardened, and painted gold, representing “the want again of the piece which was once consumed, trashed, and now resurrected.”

I love the sculptural work of Ryuji Nakamura. There’s a delicate aesthetic to his work that I enjoy.
Floridian artist Mark Creegan’s used watercolor pans have created a beautiful sculpture. Proof that beauty is in the process, indeed!

Sayaka Kajita Ganz created sculptures from trash-picked objects like plastic utensils, toys, and metals. She says, “By building these sculptures I try to understand the human relationships that surround me. It is a way for me to contemplate and remind myself that even if there is conflict right now, there is a way for all the pieces to fit together.”
My favorites are the horses.

Jim Meredith’s relief sculptures are charming, made from colored hydrocal with fiberglass. This piece, entitled “Pink Moonlight” was made in 1992.
